We’re unapologetically community focused. Although we love competition, there is zero room for hostile, negative, or toxic behaviour here. We support each other as a team, we show up to competitions as one family, and we celebrate each other no matter what. If you’re part of Rise, you belong. You’re our family. 

Our Heart is for People

At the end of the day, this gym community isn’t about weights, memberships, or competitions. Rise exists to help people. To faciliate an enviroment where others can shine, thrive, grow, and become the best versions of themselves. People who join our community are expected to embody those values and live that out both on and off the rubber mats.

Not every day is a good day. But every week, every month, every year we want to see slow and steady progress. We value being intentional and constantly improving and advancing. You’re here for a reason, we expect our members to participate, to show up, to take it seriously, and to value the process they are devoting themselves to. If you do, you’ll see unreal results.

Carrie Murphy

Owner, Head Coach

Carrie is the Founder, Head Coach and Heart of Rise! Carrie loves to spend time with people, build up the community, and get to know each person’s unique story. Carrie leads with her heart and one of her biggest joys is seeing the Rise Fam succeed! Carrie brings a wealth of experience from her college sports background in the States, where she developed a deep understanding of athletic performance and dedication. Carrie is also experienced in endurance sports such as marathons, triathlons, and Ironman events. Carrie is a true force to be reckoned with!

 

What’s your favourite…

Gym movement? Hang power cleans & running.

Meal? Yogurt w frozen blueberries & GF granola.

Past time or hobby? Playing piano and singing.

Qualifications
– CFL-Level 1
– CFAC-Hinshaw Aerobic Capacity
– CFL1-Weightlifting
– Completed numerous marathon and ironman events.

Jen Tong

Coach

Jen is our early bird coach who’s all about bringing energy and motivation to your morning workouts. Jen’s passion for helping you crush your goals is evident in every cheer, push, and fist bump! You’ll quickly discover that Jen is one of Rise’s loudest cheerleaders. Seriously – you can hear her a mile away! Jen’s fitness journey began with martial arts, where she developed a foundation of focus, discipline, and intensity. These qualities now drive her approach to functional fitness, where she channels that same dedication into every WOD!

Past time or hobby? Going to the movies.

Kiandra Doerksen

Admin

Kiandra is our gym mouse. Although she works part time, you’ll find her here basically full time. She never misses her workouts, or a chance to say hi and give you the brightest, warmest smile. She works in finance and although she’s all sweet and kind don’t let that fool you, she gets stuff done and knows how to stay on top of something, whether that’s an administrative challenge or a workout, she’ll be there to see it get done.

Hilary Simister

Sweat Coach

Hilary leads Rise’s Sweat classes! Hilary is a social butterfly and loves to connect with people. Hilary is also Rise’s resident shutterbug and is responsible for many of Rise’s fantastic action shots! Hilary has always been naturally drawn to sports. After being diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in her early twenties, exercise has become more than just a hobby for Hilary. Fitness has become a crucial part of her treatment, as evidence has shown that aerobic exercise slows the progression of the disease. Hilary’s an inspirational beast!
